Have you ever heard of Gotland Runt the famous annual yachting event hosted in Sandhamn, Stockholm? This is Sweden’s version of Cowes Week and Round the Island combined. There are over 300 yachts taking part in either the Grand Open & Multihull Class or the IMS & Ocean Racing Club classes.

This is the 176th year this event has been run by the – The Royal Swedish Yacht Club.

Opportunity:
1^st Charters are very pleased to announce that we can offer you the opportunity to take part in this race which takes place in a beautiful area; starting in Stockholm's archipelago and rounding the island of Gotland. We can offer you a yacht with 6 berths and a professional skippered and mate. The crew are there to make the race safe and as memorable as possible.

The event is organised by the Royal Swedish Yacht Club (KSSS) and hosted from the island of Sandhamn in Stockholm’s beautiful archipelago. The 362 nautical mile course 'Bravo' starts with some inshore sailing along the scenic coastline from Sandhamn, Sweden’s yachting hub. The course then heads out to sea to circumnavigate the island of Gotland before heading back north to Stockholm. On the final evening, there is a prize giving ceremony and regatta dinner which will perfectly round up the week.

Event Agenda:
Friday 30th June 2006
Everyone joins the yacht and has a first relaxed day taking in the atmosphere of the race build.

Saturday 1st July
A day of meeting your fellow crew, talking through the race and getting used to the yacht before the big start on Sunday. Saturday evening is advised to be a relaxed so everyone feels fit and ready for the next day.

Sunday 2nd July
Rise and shine and get ready. The first start is at 12.00. The race lasts between 50 - 60 hours; but as you all know that is weather & crew work dependant ... we may even get in faster.

Thursday 6th July
In the evening there is first a Prize Giving Ceremony in front of the Royal Swedish Yacht Club in Sandhamn followed by a regatta dinner. Tickets for the dinner are additional and can be ordered on booking.

Friday 7th July
An unfortunate end to the week and everyone starts to make their way home, or if you have the time stay the weekend in Stockholm, it is definitely worth seeing. We can help advise you on what to do and see, and where to stay.

Package Price:
The full weeks package is £1,500 including VAT per person.
 

Yacht:
1st Charters will charter an approriate yacht for the event. It will be in the region of 40/45ft. She will be fully coded and ideal for inshore and offshore racing.
